Part of my morning ritual involves a mug of hot lemon water, especially in the winter. I drink it first thing upon waking to help flush toxins from my body and provide a healthy dose of Vitamin C. Lately, I've been adding a bit of fresh ginger, turmeric and cayenne to my hot lemon water, adding a nice kick and amping up the detoxifying and anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It takes just a minute to prepare but sets a healthy tone for the rest of my day. Give it a try and let me know how you like it!
Out of fresh lemons? A splash of Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar makes a nice (and equally healthful) substitute!
Ingredients
Juice from half a lemon
2 healthy dashes of turmeric
A bit of fresh grated ginger
A small pinch of cayenne
Raw honey to sweeten (optional)
Squeeze the lemon into a large mug, add the other ingredients, and then fill with hot water, stir, and drink slowly.
