Four Easy Ways To Enjoy The Health Benefits Of Bone Broth

Used in traditional Chinese medicine for over 2,500 years and supported by Hippocrates in ancient Greece, bone broth is one of the oldest tricks in the book for total-body nourishment. For the past few years, its nutrient-dense properties has earned itself a spotlight in wellness routines for being one of the easiest and trendiest ways to boost health.

Guided by the philosophy of food as medicine and as a certified Culinary Nutrition Expert, I find bone broth to be an incredibly simple and effective way to enhance a dish’s flavor and nutrition profile. Below I’ve listed a few of my favorite ways to easily enjoy bone broth on a regular basis in order to get those essential nutrients needed to boost energy levels, skin health, hair care, immune function, and so much more.

The Benefits of Bone Broth

  • Rich in vitamins, amino acids, and minerals that fight inflammation, boost gut health, and support the immune system.

  • Amino acids form collagen, the ultimate beauty food responsible for the elasticity in skin and giving you that glowing radiance of youth.

  • Our Gingered Beef Bone Broth is slow-simmered with ginger and lemongrass to promote good digestion with anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.

Why Grass-Fed?

The saying goes that you are what you eat — and that applies to animals just as much as it does for us. Grass-fed beef has a stronger nutrition profile in comparison to its conventional counterpart, as the animal itself is receiving more nutrients from its natural diet, rather than one of grains. Grass-fed beef contains up to five times the amount of omega-3 fatty acids while containing less total fat, and is a much more potent source of antioxidants and vitamins A and E. When given the opportunity, always choose grass-fed over conventionally raised!

Indeed, stock is everything in cooking. Without it, nothing can be done.

Four Ways To Use Bone Broth

I love adding a poached egg, spinach, and a splash of Provenance's Chile de Arbol Paste, also from the Wellness Shop. To keep up my immunity and as a simple warming snack during colder months, I like to sip it warmed in a mug with a drizzle of olive oil, sprinkle of sea salt, and a pinch of crushed chili flakes.

In our Gingered Beef Bone Broth, grass-fed beef bones are slow-simmered in our kitchen with ginger and lemongrass to amp up the superfood’s healing powers. These aromatics promote good digestion with anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, and taste delicious.

I also use it regularly in place of stock in any soup or stew recipe. Most store-bought stock, even organic ones, have not-so-great things like yeast extract in them. Provenance's bone broths are made with 100% grass-fed beef bones and organic lemongrass, ginger, black peppercorn, and bay leaf - no preservatives or stabilizers.

Enjoy it in soups, stews, or even on its own.

Caroll Lee, our Founder, CEO, and Certified Health Coach, also loves to incorporate bone broth into her weekly routine: ”I mix our Gingered Beef Bone Broth with full-fat coconut milk and a squeeze of lime to make it rich and creamy and more Asian in its flavor profile. I’ll also add whatever veggies/greens are in my fridge or dried shiitake mushrooms and simmer in bone broth until tender. Additional spices and aromatics like jalapeño, lemongrass, cilantro, and/or garlic are also nice. Oh, and the easiest egg drop soup is to slowly drizzle a beaten egg into simmering broth, then top with chopped scallions!”

With its longstanding presence in food for many centuries, this healing superfood is not going anywhere. So sip, stir, simmer, and stew to your heart’s content and enjoy the fortifying benefits of bone broth.
